Yeah, I see Mad Max more as post-apocalyptic fantasy. Like Star Wars is space fantasy. Both of them have some elements of sci-fi, but they are far more fiction than science. But quibbling over genre definitions is kinda pointless anyway, so whatever. It's still a decent list of good movies that sci-fi fans might enjoy.

If you like unpredictable indie sci-fi movies, I reccomend ‘Biosphere(2022)’ starring Sterling K. Brown and Mark Duplass Just saw this today, and it’s freaking wild. Go into it as blind as possible, it goes to places I truly never expected in a million years.

Looking at a lot of 2022 greats, for example, the best shows seem to be particularly not sci fi (maybe if you count Mob Psycho but that's a stretch) When I was starting to fall off anime in the 00's, I remember a ton of shows that I heard about and didn't get to, like Ghost in the Shell SAC , Psycho Pass , Speed Grapher , Ergo Proxy
