He has done some amazing things to customize Mercedes. He sent me some pics of his '87 560 SEC with Euro 300HP, 5spd Getrag, tri-y headers, and S/S exhaust. You would think he is a youngster, but he is a grandpa with gray hair! Also Phil is a member of BW but I don't know his user name. Impressive.. One pic shows rpm of 1950 @ 73 mph in 5th gear. As a side note: I installed the idle speed control valve on the other car (560 SEC) and it raised the idle from 1000 rpm to 1250 rpm. So it appears the ICV was a partial cause, but it didn't really help any on the problem vehicle (560 SEL).

Sent him the whole instrument unit, he repaired the odometer, tripometer, clock and cleaned it all for under $300.

A few days after, I noticed a ticking sound from the engine; the kind of metallic rattle an engine empty of oil would make. Did change oil, thinking the oil it had might be too thin (an old).
