The older gopro's had a rounded lens and any water droplet would basically cover the entire lens. There were flat lens mods for the old dive housings to counteract this and eventually gopro saw the light and provided it out of the box with a flat lens, so in what situation would you NOT want the lens cover in place? Just seems like a non issue
