The show does a better job, I think, of pointing out that she is still young and can be naive, where as the book can lead you to believe that she is all grown up and mature now, when she really is not. TLDR; The show turns some of the very subtle and complex parts of the characters from the show into more obvious character traits. Lord of the Rings. Tolkien basically took a scholar's approach to myth, history, and language, and wrote the book that would birth the modern medieval fantasy genre. Game of Thrones has a more grounded and gritty slant to it, but still owes much to Tolkien. The both show had a lot of fans. The both show were rated very high while the shows were going on. But, Breaking Bad objectively had a better ending/final season than Game of thrones. It was getting better and better when season was going on when it comes to Breaking Bad.
As the title says, I am interested in how the show viewers see Stannis, as I would like to compare it to my own opinion of him when I was at that point in the books. Might as well see your opinion on the kings while I am at it. Have at.

They have changed a lot of things from the books, so it shouldn't be surprising. As far as "actual plot development", they developed Ramsay's character, introduced Reek, and initiated Yara/Asha going to try and rescue Theon. Those seem like actual plot developments to me. IsolationMode • 10 yr. ago. The books aren't finished. For the most part, they go up through the end of season 5 of the tv series. There are some remaining things from the books (and also winds of winter preview chapters) that are covered in season 6. There are also some plot points in the show that we know came from GRRM for seasons 6-8.

Catelyn Stark, TV vs Book. I've watched the first season of a Game of Thrones and decided to listen to the first book on audiotape while i biked to and from work. Does anyone else feel that Catelyn comes across WAY more bitchy and mean in the book than shes does on the TV show. I remember feeling really sympathetic towards Catelyn watching the The show lets us see things we can't in the books due to the nature of TV, where you can follow most everyone, vs. The books where you're bound to perspective characters. But the books let us see through the eyes of characters, rather than just outside looking in, which can feel more visceral and give you a deeper understanding of the characters. While season 4 was a matter of weeks and in the book the end of the trial with Shae and Tyrions confession and the mountain vs Oberyn is the same chapter. So season 4 dragged out the trial a lot, but imo was better as Peter Dinklages confession was amazing. The show had what Tyrion said and thought in the books had it be dialog in the show.
